The Monday Morning Meeting That Actually Works
Hey, hey, hey, Plumbing Pros! Let’s talk about a game-changer for your business: the Monday Morning Meeting.
Now before you roll your eyes, I’m not talking about those boring, never-ending gripe sessions that waste your time. I’m talking about a strategic, energizing, non-negotiable ritual that sets the tone for your entire week. A meeting that builds culture, drives sales, and reinforces your values.
You want to lead a professional plumbing business? Then it’s time to run it like one.
Let’s break down the Million Dollar Plumber’s Monday Morning Meeting Method — the one that actually works.
1. Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel
You want consistency? You gotta be consistent.
That means every Monday. Same time. Same place. No excuses. This isn’t a “when I feel like it” kind of thing — it’s game day. Your guys have been off all weekend. Now it’s time to reset and refocus.
And where should it happen? In the Tech Cave — not in a dusty backroom with junk furniture and broken chairs. Nope. Your techs are professionals. Treat them like it. We had red carpet, leather chairs, and even a custom conference table. Why? Because it says, “You matter. You’re valuable. This place is legit.”
Set the tone. Set the standard.
2. Preach Your Gospel
This is not the time to complain about what went wrong last week. Save that for a private one-on-one.
Your Monday meeting is all about reinforcing your non-negotiables. What are the 3-5 things that matter most to your business? These are your gospel truths — and you preach ’em every week.
Here’s what I hit every Monday:
-
Provide Options. Always offer options to Mrs. Jones. It’s how you serve, not sell.
-
Clean & Stock the Truck. A clean truck closes more jobs.
-
Take Good Job Notes. Documentation wins the day.
Make it fun — we’d toss out candy bars, role-play customer objections, and keep the energy high. You’re the leader. Bring the fire. If you’re flat, your team will be too.
3. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
Here’s where most guys mess up: they try to make meetings exciting by always changing them. That’s a mistake. Simplicity scales.
Say the same stuff every week. Reinforce the same behaviors. That’s how culture is built — repetition.
Give attaboys. Celebrate the guys who go above and beyond. “Joe stayed on a tough job till 7 PM last Thursday. Didn’t complain. Just got it done.” Boom. That’s leadership.
And when correction is needed? Do it privately. Never call someone out in front of the group unless it’s a rare and intentional move.
What Happens When You Nail It?
Here’s what happens when you run Monday meetings right:
-
Your techs show up focused.
-
Your brand gets reinforced.
-
Your sales improve.
-
Your culture tightens.
-
Your problems get solved before they even happen.
It’s boring. It’s repetitive. And it’s powerful.
Final Thought
If you’re not holding a Monday morning meeting — start now. If you are but it’s not working — simplify and refocus.
This one simple system helped me go from broke in the truck to selling my plumbing business for millions.
