3 Golden Nuggets
Keep it hot and sexy:
- Honor one another: Build each other up and treat each other with respect. Don’t disrespect each other and then expect intimacy in the bedroom.
- Date one another: Every week. Plan it, get excited about it, and get dressed for it. Even if you have to do date night on a budget.
- Need one another: There’s nothing wrong with needing your wife more than your buddies. Going out every weekend with the guys doesn’t make you any stronger. It’s making you weaker. It’s hurting you, and it’s hurting your business.

Being Intentional Creates Business Success
(5:48) We’re continuing our five-part services on how to live an intentional life. If you want to create business success and a life you love, you have to be intentional about it.
In last week’s episode we talked about determining your destination and declaring your destiny.
Think about it. Why do you have this plumbing business? To have prosperity and security and create the life that you truly desire.
But it doesn’t just happen. You have to be intentional to make it happen. And you have to work at it — there is work involved to have that success.
A Happy Marriage is Key to Success
That work includes putting effort into one of your most important plumbing business partnerships – your marriage.
(17:23) Almost every plumbing duo we come across are husband and wife teams. And as man and wife and as business partners, you can either tear each other down or build each other up. You have power with the words that you say to each other. How you talk to one another and how you act with each other will affect you and that will affect your business.
The power of the PPC (Plumbing Power Couple) is having two different types of personalities. That’s what makes you strong in running the business. But there can be friction there. So you have to maintain that relationship.
(6:33) That happy marriage is critical. It’s not only key to the success of your plumbing business, but it’s also the reason for having this plumbing business. You want to have a great life, and you want that great life to be with your spouse.
Keeping the Romance in a Relationship
We all know, there are so many things that try to tear a marriage apart. There’s the day-to-day, the kids, money, the media. You have to rise above that. You really have to keep the romance in your relationship. You gotta keep it hot and sexy.
How do you do that? By being intentional.
Honor Each Other
(08:27) Honor one another. I don’t care how tough you think you are, guys. It takes a man to honor his wife.
- Note each other’s best qualities. Share it with each other. Take time to appreciate those qualities.
- Don’t speak badly about each other – between yourselves or in front of other people.
- Guys, hold the door for her. Don’t just walk in front of her. Do that for her.
- Ladies, build him up. Husbands want to be respected. Don’t tear him down.
- And don’t disrespect each other and then expect intimacy in the bedroom. It’s not gonna happen.
Date Each Other
(18:18) So you’ve got this hot knockout girl that you went after. You pursued her, courted her, bought her flowers, said nice things about her, did everything you could to get her attention.
Then you get married and all of a sudden it’s like “I got her, so now I don’t have to do anything.” No, you still have to be intentional about it.
Date her now, just like when you were young and all twitterpated.
- Think about her all day.
- Look forward to date night at the end of the week.
- Wonder what she’s going to be wearing.
- Focus your mind on your wife throughout your day.
(22:24) And ladies, the lovely Laura says “put something on other than the sweatpants you’ve been wearing all day. Get dressed up. You did it when you were dating. You put something really cute on, you thought about it all day, probably went and bought something new, right? You did your hair and put some makeup on.” I love that Laura has always made the effort to do that.
(26:51) We committed to date night every Friday night. We found a way even when we didn’t have a lot of extra money: Taco Bell nights, watching planes land, joining a babysitting co-op, sneaking snacks into the movies. And as things got better financially, we had fancier dates, but we always made that time to be together.
Need Each Other
(32:24) She helps me. I help her. As the word says, we’re one flesh. (We joke, we’re one “flush”.) We complete each other.
It means more to me to be with my wife than watching some game. If the lovely Laura is not into it, I’m no longer into it. The lovely Laura makes the world go round.
We do things we both enjoy. We’re always together. In fact, if I’m not with her, it feels a little awkward. From time to time you go do something with just your friends, but I’d rather be with her than just hanging out with the guys. There’s nothing wrong with needing your wife more than being with your buddies.
Going out every weekend partying with the guys and having a separate life from your wife doesn’t make you any stronger. In fact, it’s making you weaker. It’s hurting you, and it’s hurting your business.
If you’re not intentionally working to create a happy marriage, you’re missing out. So get stronger.
